Terrified punters run for cover as man revs up power saw in busy pub

Terrified punters were forced to run for cover as a man walked into a busy pub revving a power saw.

The shocking moment was filmed and mobile phone footage was widely shared on Facebook and sent to the Manchester Evening News.

In the video, the saw’s continual whir, which rises and falls as it is revved up, can be heard over screams and cries from people inside the pub.

A woman’s voice can be heard shouting ‘no’.

This worrying incident happened at a pub in Sale, at around 11.30pm on Friday night, according to the MEN.

Thankfully it’s not thought anyone was hurt.

Drinkers said the man, who appeared to be wearing a blue coat and a black woollen hat, walked inside through a back door.

Footage appears to shows the man walk up a small flight of stairs to a seating area inside the pub with the circular Stihl saw in his hand.

One man appears to jumps out of the way as the man with the saw appears to place it down onto a table full of glasses.

Others sat at the table leap out of the way and one even appears to protect themselves using a chair.

During the incident, a table was knocked down.

One witness claimed the saw’s blade cut into a wooden chair.

They said: "No one could believe it.

"It must have been around 11.30pm or midnight on Friday – last orders is at around 1am.

"He just came walking in and went for a lad. The saw cut into a bit of chair.

"He was squeezing the trigger and revving it up. It was all just surreal and I could not believe what was happening."

The incident was described as ‘surreal’

The video footage cuts away after the man appears to start shouting at someone.

"He managed to reach a table and came through a back door," the witness added.

"All the bouncers were straight onto him and the saw was taken off him. It all happened within a split second. The lads on the door got a grip of him."

It is not thought anyone was hurt

Another man who was in the pub at the time said police were called.

The M.E.N. has sent the footage to Greater Manchester Police and asked the force for comment. Mirror Online has also approached GMP for comment.

It’s not known whether any arrests have been made.

Both the MEN and Mirror Online have made attempts to contact the pub for comment.
